Gbenga Olaleye pledges commitment to Ijesa North, Olajengbesi campaign, accepts POCO appointment

Olóyè Gbenga Oluranti Olaleye has formally accepted his appointment as Chairman of the Students Committee of the Pelumi Olajengbesi Campaign Organization (POCO), pledging to mobilise students and young people in support of Barrister Pelumi Olajengbesi’s political ambition.

Olaleye’s appointment was announced on 7 October 2026. In his acceptance statement, he expressed gratitude to God and thanked Olajengbesi for the confidence reposed in him, alongside the leaders, mentors, friends and supporters who had encouraged him throughout his political journey.

He described the appointment as more than a position, saying it represented a call to service and a renewed commitment to the future of Ijesa North Federal Constituency.

According to him, the constituency deserves purposeful representation, expanded opportunities for young people and a political environment in which students and youths actively participate in shaping governance and development.

Olaleye stressed that students have a crucial role to play in the campaign, noting that their collective voices, energy and influence could contribute significantly to achieving the desired change.

He consequently called on students and young people across Ijesa North to unite beyond personal interests and differences, embrace the campaign’s vision and support Olajengbesi’s aspiration for what he described as purposeful representation and a better future for the constituency.

The newly appointed chairman also pledged to work diligently towards engaging students, strengthening the committee’s structures and contributing meaningfully to the campaign’s success.

He emphasised that effective leadership requires service, sacrifice, teamwork and measurable results, adding that he would discharge his responsibilities with humility, integrity and dedication.

“With God’s guidance and the support and cooperation of our leaders, colleagues and the student community, I am confident that we can make a meaningful difference,” he said.

Olaleye acknowledged the scale of the task ahead but expressed confidence in the committee’s resolve, calling for collective efforts towards a successful campaign and a new chapter for Ijesa North.

He concluded by thanking supporters for their goodwill and reaffirming his commitment to the responsibility entrusted to him as Chairman of the Students Committee of POCO.
