Mr Macaroni explains why he is not interested in politics

Mr Macaroni has explained why he prefers to remain outside formal politics while continuing his advocacy for Nigerians.

By Admin:

Nigerian comedian and social commentator Debo Adebayo, popularly known as Mr Macaroni, has explained why he has no interest in pursuing a career in politics despite his continued advocacy on issues affecting Nigerians.

The entertainer made his position known in a viral video while discussing the challenges associated with speaking up for citizens and the criticism that often comes with public advocacy.

Mr Macaroni said he is wary of entering politics because of what he described as the ability of the political environment to change people.

According to him, individuals who were once regarded as principled and trustworthy can face pressures that may affect their conduct after becoming involved in politics.

He said remaining outside the political system allows him to continue expressing his views on issues affecting Nigerians without becoming part of the political structure he frequently comments on.

The comedian also spoke about the challenges he encounters when advocating for citizens, noting that speaking up on behalf of Nigerians does not always attract appreciation from the people being represented.

He said advocates can sometimes become targets of criticism from the same members of the public whose interests they seek to defend.

According to Mr Macaroni, this can be frustrating for individuals who genuinely believe they are acting in the interest of the people.

He noted that public reactions to advocacy are often divided, with some people supporting such efforts while others question the motives behind them.

Mr Macaroni has in recent years become known for combining comedy with social commentary, using his social media platforms to discuss issues around governance, accountability and citizens’ welfare.

His latest comments indicate that he intends to continue his advocacy from outside formal politics rather than seek elective office.

His position also highlights the different approaches public figures can take towards civic engagement, with some moving from entertainment and activism into politics while others choose to influence public conversations without holding political office.
