The recent thank-you visit by the African Democratic Congress (ADC) governorship candidate, Olóyè Taofeek Adeboyega, popularly known as Solution, to Ogbomoso has sparked concerns over the treatment of the party’s Federal Constituency candidate and other stakeholders.
Adeboyega visited the federal constituency comprising Ogbomoso North, Ogbomoso South and Oriire Local Government Areas on Saturday, September 5, 2026, as part of efforts to appreciate supporters and strengthen the party’s political structure ahead of the elections.
However, a commentary by Temitidayo questioned why Hon. Babatunde Oyelade, the ADC candidate for the Ogbomoso North, Ogbomoso South and Oriire Federal Constituency, was allegedly not adequately carried along in the visit.
The writer described Oyelade as a major figure in the ADC structure in Ogbomoso, arguing that he had invested considerable time, relationships, resources and political energy in building the party’s presence in the area.
The commentary questioned the decision to hold a major political engagement within the constituency without properly involving the candidate seeking to represent the same constituency under the ADC platform.
Controversy reportedly arose during the introduction of the Ogbomoso South Local Government Party Chairman, Hon. Benjamin, whom the State Chairman was said to have introduced as the coordinator for Ogbomoso North, Ogbomoso South and Oriire.
According to the writer, the announcement generated laughter among those present, with questions subsequently raised about the authority under which the title was conferred.
The commentary argued that the introduction could create confusion within an existing political structure, particularly where the constituency already has a recognised candidate and other stakeholders.
It further claimed that Hon. Benjamin himself reportedly raised the issue and suggested that Hon. Oyelade should be contacted, but that a call was not ultimately made.
The writer questioned the political rationale behind seeking support from voters in the constituency while allegedly sidelining the ADC candidate contesting for the Federal Constituency seat.
“If you are coming to seek Ogbomoso votes, why ignore the person contesting for the Federal Constituency seat on your own platform?” the writer asked.
The commentary also stressed the importance of recognising the efforts of individuals who had helped establish and sustain the party’s structure, arguing that political structures are built through years of relationships, sacrifice and commitment.
It called for greater consultation and mutual respect among ADC stakeholders, warning that internal divisions could undermine the party’s prospects if left unaddressed.
“A political party cannot genuinely preach unity while its own stakeholders feel ignored. A house divided against itself cannot stand,” the writer stated.
The writer also acknowledged other points of contention surrounding the visit but chose not to elaborate on the matter involving the State House of Assembly member representing Ogbomoso North, saying it could be addressed separately.
The commentary concluded with a call for the recognition of all candidates and stakeholders, particularly Oyelade, while urging party leaders to prioritise unity and respect for the existing political structure.
“A thank-you visit should unite the party, not create unnecessary controversy. It should strengthen the structure, not make those who built it feel forgotten,” the writer said.
