The Imole Campaign Council (TICC) has commended the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate in the recently concluded Osun State Governorship Election, Bola Oyebamiji, for congratulating Governor Ademola Adeleke on his victory at the polls.
In a statement signed by its spokesperson, Pelumi Olajengbesi, Esq., on Monday, the campaign council described Oyebamiji’s gesture as a demonstration of sportsmanship and political maturity.
The council said the outcome of the election should not be allowed to deepen political divisions in the state, stressing that the people of Osun share a common destiny regardless of their political affiliations.
“Elections will come and go, but Osun State remains our collective heritage,” the statement read.
TICC acknowledged that the election was keenly contested, with political emotions running high, while expressing regret over the loss of lives recorded during the period.
It consequently called for healing, reconciliation and sober reflection among political actors and residents across the state.
The council urged leaders from different political parties to seize the opportunity to work together for the peace, progress and development of Osun State.
According to TICC, political differences should not become permanent divisions among people who share a common heritage and destiny.
The campaign council also stated that Governor Adeleke remains open to ideas and suggestions from Oyebamiji and other political stakeholders on ways to move the state forward.
It stressed that the responsibility for developing Osun and improving the lives of its people extends beyond political parties and individuals.
“The development of our dear state and the progress of her people is a collective responsibility,” the council said.
TICC further reminded political actors that there would always be future elections and opportunities for political disagreements, but urged stakeholders to prioritise peace and the interests of the people at the present time.
“For now, let Osun heal. Let our leaders unite, and let the interest of our people come first,” the council stated.
The statement was signed by Pelumi Olajengbesi, Esq., spokesperson for the Imole Campaign Council.
