The Olojudo Alayemore of Ido-Osun Kingdom, Oba Olayinka Oyetunde Ishola Jokotola, has inspected the ongoing 82.7-kilometre Osogbo-Iwo-Ibadan Road Project, describing the Federal Government’s intervention as a significant investment in connectivity and economic development across the region.
The traditional ruler carried out the inspection on Wednesday, visiting the project yard and commencement point at Ido-Osun to assess activities and progress on the site.
The road project, awarded to M/S Peculiar Ultimate Concerns Ltd, has an expected completion period of 36 months.
Speaking during the inspection, Oba Jokotola described the project as a major infrastructure intervention capable of transforming transportation, connectivity and economic activities along the Osogbo-Iwo-Ibadan corridor.
He commended President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and the Federal Government for initiating the long-awaited project, describing it as a development of considerable importance to Osun State and its residents.
The monarch also acknowledged the contribution of Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke, as residents welcomed the commencement of the major road project.
According to him, the commencement point at Ido-Osun represents an important milestone for the community, while expressing optimism that the project would be executed to the highest standards of quality, professionalism and accountability.
“For Ido-Osun, the commencement point marks an important milestone. We look forward to a project delivered with quality, professionalism and accountability, and to the opportunities it will create for generations to come,” the monarch said.
Oba Jokotola stressed that the significance of the project extends beyond the construction of a major transport route, noting that improved infrastructure would strengthen links between communities and unlock new economic opportunities.
He said the completed road would improve movement along the corridor while creating opportunities for residents, businesses and communities that depend on the route for transportation and commerce.
“Infrastructure connects more than roads; it connects people, communities and possibilities,” he said.
The monarch’s inspection comes as work progresses on the strategic Osogbo-Iwo-Ibadan corridor, which is expected to improve connectivity between communities in Osun and Oyo states while supporting trade, transportation and broader economic activities when completed.
He urged all stakeholders involved in the project to maintain transparency and professionalism throughout its execution, expressing confidence that the completed road would deliver lasting benefits to the people of the region.
